Skunk's Journey

Today Skunk's journey took him and a friend for a bike ride through Pacific Grove, California, then for an evening hike in the woods near Spanish Bay in the Lynn "Rip" Van Winkle Open Space, after which he continued riding into the sunset along Asilomar Beach. On the walk in the woods, he saw a lot a wild blackberry, yellow vetch, and monkey flower in bloom. We saw a few slender salamanders, two centipedes, many sow bugs, and several small cricket nymphs of some variety. An Anna's hummingbird gave us a wonderful show as he (along with several male mosquitos) was feeding on an impressive flowering bush (somewhat resembling Lavender) whose stalky flowers were blooming in an imposing array of purple shades. I'm pretty certain that it is an introduced species, but I haven't been able to identify it yet.

No picture today except for that found in your imagination. The camera batteries died.
